Tallanbana Picnic Area is a small picnic area at Springbrook in the Gold Coast hinterland. Tallanbana is an Aboriginal word meaning ‘out of the rushes’.
The picnic grounds has picnic tables, most are set under cover or well shaded by the surrounding trees, and flushing toilets.
From Tallanbana Picnic Area, a short walk leads to the Twin Falls circuit, which follows along the top and bottom of the western cliffs of the canyon.
It is a grade 3 walk with narrow tracks near steep cliffs. It is a popular walk, which leads you behind two waterfalls. The full circuit takes you passed Blackfellow Falls as well.
Near Blackfellow Falls is a junction to walk the 17km Warrie circuit. You could walk part of this to go to the Poondahra Falls then return back to the Twin Falls circuit.
The Twin Falls circuit can be started from Tallanbana Picnic Area, or the Canyon Lookout , with both being on the same circuit walk. If you want to walk down to the falls and come back the same way for a shorter walk, then starting from Tallanbana Picnic Area may be a better choice.
To get there:
From the Springbrook Mountain Visitor Centre, continue south on Springbrook Rd for 8.3km, with the parking area for Tallanbana Picnic Area on the left.
