Aboriginal people of the area believed the Blow Hole was connected by an underground stream leading to the Murray River near Tucomwal. Stories tell of a native spirit darting from the Murray River through the underground steam and popping out at the Blow Hole.
The Blow Hole is a deep hole in a granite outcrop, over 4.5 metres deep, and a deeper narrower hole possibly over 24 metres deep. A hollow sound heard on the south side of the hole, may be of an underground cavern.
