The Woolool Wooloolni Aboriginal Place is a visually striking granite outcrop, and a spiritually powerful location and centre of spiritual power in the Bundjalung language.
According to Bundjalung lore, a Wuyangali (Clever Man) named Woollool Woollool held exclusive spiritual rights to the site. When he died, a rock fell from the top of the balancing formation, signaling his spirit’s return and making the site safe to approach.

Stories vary across local Aboriginal groups, including the Wahlubal and Githabul peoples, but all center around the sacred nature of the top rock and the legacy of Woollool Woollool.
The place was called by its main feature, Wellington Rock. Wellington Rock is a mushroom-shaped granite boulder balanced atop other rocks. A geological marvel and a cultural symbol to Aboriginal peoples.
Access is through the Basket Swamp National Park.
