The Coonalpyn Silo Mural, depicting children at play, was painted by Guido van Helten, one of a six-part art project for Coonalpyn. The purpose was to reinvigorate the small town of Coonalpyn by creating a reason for passing tourists to stop.
Near the silos, another brown sign Tunnel Vision is one of the other art projects. It leads under the railway line to a dog park.
From the Coonalpyn Arts Trail brochure, the following is said of Silo Mural:
Creating Coonalpyn is about securing a future for our town.
The young children featured on the Viterra silos mural by
artist Guido van Helten are students from the local Primary
School. They represent hope for the future. The project took
six weeks and was completed in March 2017.
