Main entertainment center in Brisbane, the Brisbane Entertainment Centre was build in the mid-1980s with ice dancers Torvill and Dean the first event in February 1986. It is still (in 2026) Brisbane’s largest indoor live entertainment area in Brisbane with 11,000 tiered seats and able to add an additional 2,601 seats for concerts.
Events are mainly concerts and musical shows, although it is used for other types of events, including large comedy acts, monster trucks, and sporting events.
The centre premises includes a sporting complex, where it is regularly used for sports such as basketball, netball, and volleyball. The Brisbane Bullets used the centre as their full-time home location in 2024-2025 season.
As part of Brisbane’s bid for the 1992 Olympic Games, the Brisbane Entertainment Centre was used as one of the sport venues, and will be used in the 2032 Olympics to host Basketball and/or Handball.
Something that many may not be aware of, the green space of the Brisbane Entertainment Centre include picnic grounds with free BBQs and picnic tables. For those who enjoy remote controlled cars and boats, there is a dirt track and lake for public use too.
