Visiting the wet tropics of northern Queensland isn’t complete unless you get to spot some crocodiles. Crocodile Express Cruises has two locations on the Daintree River to achieve this experience.
This location is the Lower Daintree Cruise. A 60-minute cruise starting near the Daintree Ferry exploring the mangroves and crocodile mudflats. There is a chance of spotting the endangered Cassowary, the world’s third largest bird and vital part of the rainforest ecosystem for over 250 rainforest plants.
They have a separate Upper Daintree Cruise starting from Daintree Village, checking in at the Daintree Village Visitor Information Centre
.
The parking area where Crocodile Express Cruises leaves from has good facilities to wait for your cruise or to stop for a break. There are toilets as well as lots of information about the Daintree.
Crocodile Express Cruises is one of three cruise services on the Daintree River with brown signs at the same location. The other two are Solar Whisper Cruises and Daintree River Cruises. It is also just before the Daintree Ferry
if you want a stop before getting in the queue to cross the river.
Big Crocodile Head
A larger-than-life crocodile head greets you at the entry of Crocodile Express Cruises. The head has been designed as a walk-through entryway.
The Big Crocodile Head is 2 metres by 4 metres, making its appearance in 2001.
