West Coast Wilderness Railway is a heritage and wilderness rail experience along 35 kilometres of railway line. Operating original steam locomotives and heritage Drewry diesel locomotives from the 1950s, there are several station locations the West Coast Wilderness Railway can be found.
The remote and cool West Coast temperate rainforest wilderness sets the scenic landscape to enjoy while experiencing the heritage railway locomotives. With a choice of different journeys to choose from, disembark at stops with additional experiences to the rail journey itself.
Lynchford Express
The Lynchford Express leaves from Queenstown for a 20-minute train travel through town and stopping at Lynchford Station. Lynchford Station at the fringes of the rainforest where you can stop to experience the gold fever outpost, including gold panning and pioneer museum. Returning to Queenstown, the journey takes 1.5 hours.
Rinadeena, Rack & Rainforest
A longer experience, the journey starts the same with an initial stop at Lynchford. After some panning for gold, the train continues on the Abt rack railway with another stop, this time at Rinadeena Station to enjoy the rainforest. The train journey completes with a return to Queenstown.
Regatta Point Station
The Regatta Point Station in Strahan
is at the other end of the railway line, used for transporting material from the mines to the port. Additional railway journeys commence from Regatta Point Station.
Queenstown Station Museum
Queenstown Station includes a museum, featuring interpretive displays and a collection of artefacts of the railway from the Queenstown mines to the Strahan port.
