Cable Beach is a 22-kilometre white sand beach in the popular Western Australian tourist town of Broome. The beach spans from Broome at the southern end up to Willies Creek in the north, where we went to Willie Creek Pearl Farm 
the day before.
The main location of Cable Beach is about 6 kilometres north from the southern point at Gantheaume Point , which can be seen in the distance. The northern end disappears into the horizon.
The beach got its name when the telegraph cable was laid in 1889 between Broome and Batavia (Jakarta), connecting Australia to Indonesia.
The sunset at Cable Beach was beautiful with a burnt orange sky surrounding the golden sun setting over the western ocean water. We were not the only ones around at sunset, there were a lot of people getting photos.
4WD access is permitted on Cable Beach via a vehicle ramp at the end of the car park area. Vehicles must proceed to an area ‘north of the rocks’ when they have entered the beach.
Cable Beach is a turtle nesting area between October and February with access restrictions applying during this time.
Camel rides on Cable Beach is another popular tourist activity. Join one of the camel riding tours to give you a different perspective of Cable Beach from a camel train.
The stunning scenery doesn’t stop at the end of the sunset. At night you can also see the natural phenomenon Staircase to the Moon.
