Greenmount Beach is part of the same beach as Coolangatta Beach. It sits between Coolangatta Beach
to its west and under the Greenmount Point headland above it to the east.
Greenmount Point separates the beach from the beach of Rainbow Bay
on the other side of the point. Greenmount Point offers great viewing of the beaches with its high vantage point.
It is patrolled by the Greenmount Beach Surf Club every day between 8am and 5pm, with a lifeguard tower and the usual red and yellow flags. The Greenmount Surf Club sits at the eastern end tucked in close to Greenmount Point.
Greenmount is one of the busiest beaches on the Gold Coast, a popular spot for swimmers and surfers, as well as general beach users who don’t go into the water. For surfing, the location is part of the World Surfing Reserve. Its slower paced section of the southern point break is suited to beginner and intermediate board riders.
Swimmers enjoy calmer waters as the beach more sheltered. This is partly because the beach is north facing and it is partly protected by the headland beside it.
The beach is outlined by grassy parklands, as are many of the beaches along the Gold Coast ocean beaches. The parklands have barbecues and picnic tables as well as shade structures to combat the hot summer months’ sun. Additional facilities include toilets and beach showers.
