The beach is a symbol connected with the Gold Coast, established many years ago. The Surf Life Saving Club at North Kirra Beach is the newest but it still has a long history, established over 70 years ago in 1949.
North Kirra Beach sits between Kirra Beach
and Bilinga Beach
, one of a number of patrolled beaches along a sandy stretching between Kirra Beach up to Currumbin Beach where Currumbin Creek comes out to the ocean.
The North Kirra Beach Surf Live Saving Club is located on the grassy park strip that runs along the length of the beach. The park has great amenities with toilets, free BBQs, playground and picnic tables.
The entrances to the beach pass through a vegetation protected section, with some having outdoor showers and water fountains.
The park area has a concrete path running the length of it, extending on the the other beaches, great for running and cycling along the coastline.
Kirra Parkrun
starts at the western end of Kirra Beach and heads first into the park area of North Kirra Beach before returning back towards Kirra Beach.
North Kirra Beach is sometimes used for surfing, Kirra Beach is a more popular location for this water activity. Swimming between the patrolled flags is the main activity in the water at North Kirra Beach.
