Red Beach is a dog friendly beach at the bottom end of Bribie Island, it is one of the lesser known beaches sitting hidden from the main traffic roads.
To the north is Buckley’s Hole
and Bongaree, often chosen for the calmer water and beaches. To the east is Woody Bay and around the point to Woorim, chosen for the surf beach.
In spite of Red Beach not being known as much as Bongaree or the Woorim Surf Beach
, we found a lot of people were there without being too busy.
There are several tracks from the parking area leading to the beach. Most of the tracks prohibit dogs, with the track nearest to the entry leading to the beach where the dog section begins.

Most of Red Beach is off-leash for dogs. Dogs cannot go from Red Beach to Buckley’s Hole
, where the area is protected for shoreline birds. In the other direction, however, there is around 5km or more of beach you can take your pooch along off the leash. Without a dog, you can walk all the way from Bongaree to Woorim Surf Beach
.
Some sections of the beach may become narrow and difficult to get passed the trees and wood debris. Walking at low tide makes it easier, especially when you can walk on the harder compacted sand instead of the soft dry sand above the tide mark.
The water was pleasant to swim in with some gentle waves to move you around a little, an enjoyable swim for the kids
