Located on Caoura Rd at Jim Watling Park, at the start of the Jim Watling Walk. The Big Apple was commissioned in 1988 by local resident Jim Watling, a sculpture that represented Tallong’s orchard heritage and attract customers to his apple shed. The Big Apple was sculpted by local craftsman Carl Zeschke.
In 2015, the Big Apple was restored and placed where it can be seen as an enduring symbol of the district’s apple growing past, and as a memorial to Jim Watling and Carl Zeschke. The Big Apple made its return at the 2016 Apple Day festival.
