The Big Barramundi is in Daintree Village, around 110 kilometres north of Cairns. Like many big things, it started as a tourist trap for a business, in this case, the Big Barramundi Garden.
The “Big Barra”, as it was commonly known, is a 6-metre fibreglass barra, once fitted above the entrance to the Big Barramundi Barbeque Gardens. At some point, it was moved from above the entrance to beside the cafe.
When it was moved, I have no idea nor could I find any information of when it happened. The Big Barramundi Garden itself looks to be no more. A sign is still there near the big thing but the undercover area that it once sat above has been removed.
