The Big Cherries in Young was originally located off Short Street. The tourist information centre changed location and the Big Cherries moved with it.
One of Young’s iconic exports, the Big Cherries represents the cherry industry around the town. Pick your own cherries around the region is available during November and December when the cherries are in season. Head there when the National Cherry Festival is held in Young NSW, celebrating the town’s history as the Cherry Capital of Australia.
The new location is next to the Young Railway Station, a heritage listed former railway station. First opened in 1885, the railway station operated for over 100 years before closing in December 1989. The railway station now houses the new visitor centre.
The town of Young was named one of six must-visit NSW regional towns
that will make you feel like a local, with the Big Cherries one of the must-see attractions.
