Outside the front of the Tamworth Visitor Information Centre, stands the iconic 12-metre tribute to Australian Country Music, The Big Golden Guitar.
The Big Golden Guitar is not a replica of a guitar, at least not directly. It is a replica of the famed Golden Guitar Award. Weighing half a tonne, the Golden Guitar was built in 1988 and unveiled by Slim Dusty. Slim Dusty is an icon of Country Music himself, artist of the famed song, The Pub With No Beer

In 2025, Big Golden Guitar was included as one of 10 Australia’s Big Things in the Aussie Big Things 2 Collection.
