Hannibal’s Bucket is an old dragline bucket used in mining, now sitting on the side of the D’Aguilar Highway in Nanango.
Technically, it isn’t big in terms of a dragline bucket, but it is a big thing that brings people over to it for photo opportunities so it has been added to the list.
Weighing around 41 tonnes and able to carry 100 tonnes of material, it is a big bucket. It is a common photo opportunity to reverse into the bucket with your vehicle or simply stand in the bucket.
The bucket was used at the Tarong Coal Mine, which supplies coal to the Tarong Power Station. In a 10-year lifespan, the bucket lifted enough material to fill hundreds of thousands of backyard swimming pools.
