Bengalla Reserve sits between Goondiwindi and Yelarbon, one of a series of free camping sites along Kildonan Road, an alternative to driving along the Cunningham Highway.
Camping is available to caravans, motorhomes, tents, and camper trailers, and you are allowed to stay for up to 14 nights at the designated bush camping reserve. Dogs are also allowed if they are on a leash.
The campsites are near the Macintyre River. Fishing is allowed, however, the river is on the New South Wales border is an NSW fishing license is required – yes, even if you are standing on the Queensland side of the river. There was little water flow in the river when we were there but there are deeper sections that may still have successful fishing in.
