Bigriggen Park is a bush camping ground in the Scenic Rim, between Boonah and Rathdowney. It offers beautifully kept grassy campgrounds, and fresh water flowing along the Logan River running beside it.
During the busy period between Christmas and New Years, there was plenty of space. The areas furthest from the river was where most of the available space was, but there was still some room closer to the river also.
Bigriggen Park is a popular family camping place. Children appeared drawn primarily to the water for the swimming hole and riding down the river on inflatable rings, or riding their bikes on bike tracks.
Campfires are permitted in provided fireplaces, and 20kg bags of firewood can be purchased if you don’t bring your own.
Flushing toilets and showers are in the amenities block, and they have secondary amenities for busy periods. Showers cost $1 for 5 minutes.
The kiosk sells basic supplies, drinks and ice-creams, and also has gas bottle swaps which are a handy offering that can save a trip to town if you run out of gas.
The spelling of Bigriggen is confusing. Bigriggen is the correct spelling, but when the local school was built it was named Bigriggan and both the different names are used. The brown sign for Bigriggen Reserve is “Bigriggan Res”, just to keep things interesting.
If you want to run an event here, there is a hall and kitchen for hire. Dormitory accommodation for up to 20 people, comes inclusive with the hall and kitchen.
