Sheepstation Creek Campgrounds is the largest of two campgrounds in Border Ranges National Park, with sites for tents, camper trailers, and caravans.
Each of the 15 campsites has picnic tables and wood BBQ. In the centre is a larger sheltered picnic table and free gas BBQs. The sites vary in size and shape, so try to check which is suitable for your setup.
The campgrounds are quiet and there were visitors coming through regularly, from wallabies, various birds, and goannas. Some of the birds come in close and sit near you, others stay high in the canopy of the trees above.
There are three walks starting from Sheepstation Creek, all of them beginning from the easy grade Palm Forest Walk leading to the swimming hole of the creek.
Before reaching the swimming hole you come across a rock ledge with the names of the cedar-getters who worked here from 1886, carting Red Cedar logs on bullock wagons from the plateau down to Richmond River.
The heavy logs were unloaded and the carts brought down empty, then reloaded using this rock as a ramp.
The water in the swimming hole can only be described as freezing. It doesn’t take long to recover from the heat of the day in the middle of summer, the sting of the cold water remaining for your stay in the water.
Continuing on the walk takes you to Brushbox Falls. The walk is not difficult but it does have very steeper ledges beside a narrow path as you walk back
A junction in the track takes you to Brushbox Falls or continue on the Booyong Track and the Rosewood Loop. The junction to Brushbox Falls later rejoins the Booyong Track but is a little longer.
The waterfall is downstream along Sheepstation Creek from the waterhole. The lookout point is elevated on a platform lookout downward to the top of the falls.
There is a track leading down to the creek but I don’t think it is a proper track. If it is, it is a difficult track and risky so we didn’t go down it.
Booyong Walking Track is 9km one-way leading to Forest Tops Campgrounds 
. The walk takes about 5-6 hours so it is best to have a pickup organised at the other end.
For a shorter walk than the entire length of Booyong Walking Track is to do the Rosewood Loop. Rosewood Loop is 6km return taking up to 2 hours, seeing some of the oldest trees in the park.
