The Stanthorpe Cheese Factory is a three-kilometre detour from the highway at Thulimbah, just north of Stanthorpe, making artisan cheeses from single herd Jersey cows.
Stanthorpe Cheese Factory is opened as the Jersey Girls Cafe where you taste samples of the cheeses and a range of other local produce, including chutneys, vinegars, sauces, and honey.

There is a range of cheeses to try including washed rind Summit Sunset and Rosco’s Rough Red, Jersey Cow Feta, romano style Rex, and triple brie Snowstorm.
After tasting the cheeses you can order a platter of cheeses or a ploughman’s lunch made up with picks of your favourites. If you are looking for more range on the menu, that is all there is for food.
Accompany your platter or ploughman’s lunch with tea, coffee, milkshakes and hot chocolate. There is also a selection of wines available and local apple juice.
We had a ploughman’s lunch with Snowfall, a buttery French-style double brie, and The Outlaw, a smoked washed curd cheese with Applewood chips, befitting the area’s apple farming heritage and the Big Apple at the highway in Thulimbah.
We also purchased some cheese to take home with us, including the yummy Brass Monkey Blue to take home, a creamy and salty blue vein cheese.
If you want something different to a Macca’s stop and the once popular Vincenzo’s closed on the highway, Stanthorpe Cheese Factory is an alternative to stop for a break not too far from the highway.
