Superbee Honey World in Currumbin Gold Coast is a tourist attraction and outlet for Superbee Honey, and a member of the Queensland National Trust. Originally opened in Tanawha in the Sunshine Coast, Superbee Honeyworld was opened as a second location in 1987 but after Tanawha closing in 2008 it is now the only attraction site.
Superbee is opposite Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary
, which is an interesting association as Currumbin Bird Sanctuary (what it was originally called) was started by a beekeeper by diverting lorikeets away from his honey producing blooms by regularly feeding them.
Entry into the shop of Superbee Honeyworld is free, entering through the Big Beehive at the entrance, itself a Big Thing close to the Big Surfboard
just next door. You can sample a selection of the honey varieties they have and buy all sorts of flavours.
Honey Cinnamon, Honey Strawberry, and Honey Eucalyptus were the less common ones there but they also have more familiar flavours such as Iron Bark and Yellow Box.
If you want to proceed beyond the store, tickets for live bee tours are available, taking you through the bee farm and show the process of honey from the flower to the honey jar.
Live bee shows at the Sunshine Coast can still be had at Yandina by going to The Ginger Factory
which is near the old Superbee Honeyworld.
