Peeramon was once a thriving timber town, surveyed in 1907. Today, the Historic Peeramon Hotel is attraction bringing people to the small township. The name Peeramon is from an Aboriginal word referring to a local hill.
Looking from the outside, the hotel doesn’t have its historical charm, rebuilt after being damaged by Cyclone Larry in 2006. Walk inside and the story is kind of similar. Gone are the old wooden structures with decades of stories to tell, replaced with a modern take on a country pub hotel.
This isn’t a criticism of the pub and how it was rebuilt, it is lamenting for the history lost in the disaster of Cyclone Larry. Still, Peeramon Hotel is great spot with views to admire while enjoying an ale or a meal. The reviews are generally positive with cold beer, good food, and views from the verandah.
