Located on the Queensland / New South Wales (NSW) border, high on a peak overlooking the ocean, with amazing views to Surfers Paradise to the north and Byron Bay to the south. It’s also a short walk to the famous Snapper Rocks surf spot.
The main feature is the Captain Cook Memorial which is also a lighthouse and sits on the border. The sides of the border of Queensland and New South Wales is paved with different colours, making the border line clearly viewable. The line goes directly through the monument.

There is a picnic area below the lookout, Lovers Rock Park, with sheltered picnic tables and free BBQs. This can be accessed by following the footpath towards Duranbah Beach NSW.

Along the Queensland coast, the lookout shows views of Snapper Rocks below Point Danger, and the Gold Coast city skyline in the distance.
Along the New South Wales coast, the lookout shows views of Fingal Heads Causeway can be seen, as well as Fingal Head Beach. There is some doubt on the location named Danger Point by Captain Cook may have been Fingal Heads. It is believed the “point of land under which lies a small island” is Fingal Head and the current Cook Island off the Fingal Heads Causeway.
