The Firs is a dairy farm owned by the Davis family, near Nobby in Queensland. The Davis family is known from the On The Selection book written by Arthur Davis, under the pen name of Steele Rudd.
The brown sign is not in a clear location, a fair way off the road next to the two trees. I have been along here a number of times but had failed to notice the brown sign there — and I’m always on the look-out for them.
There isn’t much in the way of parking near The Firs. It is a busy highway with no practical shoulder to park on. The grass verge is fairly flat but there is a steep drop-off most of the way along the road’s shoulder.
We were able to turn off from Nobby Connection Road and drive along the grass, although there is some uneven ground along this way too. There is a service station, around 200-250 metres north of the trees offering a safer location to park.
