There are some great walks at the Glass House Mountains, including summit walks that offer stunning views of the area and the mountains. Mt Ngungun
is one of the more accessible summit walks, and Mt Beerburrum
is paved the whole way but is extremely steep.
The Scenic Lookout, or Glass House Mountains Lookout depending on which brown sign you spot, offers good views of the mountains without the huff and puff associated with the others, including wheelchair access.
At around 170m the lookout is not as high up, but it is more centrally located so you can see from the one spot Mt Ngungun
, Mt Tibrogargan, Mt Tibberoowuccum, Mt Beerwah, Mt Coonowrin
(also known as Crookneck), Mt Beerburrum
, Mt Tunbubudula (also known as The Twins), and Mt Miketeebumulgrai.

Another difference with the Scenic Lookout over the summits, there are toilets available. An oddity however is the men’s have flushing toilets, and women’s have long drops.
We used to go here fairly with a 4wd club and friends, and it took us years to know they were different. We just assumed they were the same and never discussed until a woman skipped the queue by using the men’s and discovered the variation.
There are a number of picnic tables, a couple of them undercover, and free BBQs for use as well. Some of the tables and BBQs have a couple of steps down, but a couple are wheelchair accessible. If you prefer to throw out a picnic blanket, there is some flat grass in the same area.

There is a short 800m walk for those wanting to stretch their legs. There are no views on the walk, which follows along the side of the hills the lookout is at. It is an easy walk but has steps in a few places that make it unsuitable for wheelchairs.
The Glass House Mountains Scenic Lookout provides an easily accessible lookout to view the Glass House Mountain peaks without having to climb one of the summits, or even to view them from a different perspective from the views from the summits, and is closer than the views from the Blackall Range at Mary Cairncross Park
and McCarthys Lookout
in Maleny.
