Grandstand and Shellhouse are a couple of a few destinations along the Kalbarri National Park coastal cliffs 
, beautiful red sandstone weathered by the ocean and wind.
Grandstand is accessed directly with a brown sign directing you to it. From the parking area, Grandstand is close and can be seen more or less straight away.
Shellhouse is a short walk, 300m from Grandstand. Shellhouse is worth the short walk to view the stunning colours in the cliffs around the small gorge. The banding of different layers of coloured sandstone is memorable.
A lookout platform has been built to view it from. Sunset along these cliffs is a great time to go as the sun shines directly onto the sandstone cliffs.
The sandstone of the cliffs is unique along the coral coast. Most of the coastline is limestone, however, here the limestone has weathered away, leaving the red iron-rich sandstone exposed.
