From Monto, head north along the Burnett Hwy for 15.6km and turn left into Coominglah State Forest entrance. Follow Kington Road which runs beside the rest area before reaching a Coominglah State Forest sign indicating Hurdle Gully Lookout. After 2.6km cross over Roths Road and continue for another 7km following the state forest signs.

From Thangool, head south along the Burnett Hwy for 63.2km and turn right into Coominglah State Forest entrance. Follow Kington Road which runs beside the rest area before reaching a Coominglah State Forest sign indicating Hurdle Gully Lookout. After 2.6km cross over Roths Road and continue for another 7km following the state forest signs.

The rest area is near the entrance to the state forest when coming off Burnett Hwy. From the rest area, the lookout is 15 to 20 minutes to drive.
