The brown sign is for Isla Gorge Lookout leads you to the picnic area and camping ground of the Isla Gorge National Park.
The campground is simple and may be tight for larger caravans but fine for camper trailers. There is a shelter with views at the day use area and long drop toilets. Water is available at the shelter but it is best to bring your own, especially for drinking.
The main lookout is a 800m return walk, following a spur overlooking the gorge and Devils Nest. There is some clamoring over rocks to get to the end of the track for the lookout.
There are no official trails walking into the gorge. There are steep sides and loose surfaces that makes it suitable only for experienced and fit bush walkers.
There are no fees for entering the national park, however, camping fees apply if you are staying overnight. Onsite bookings are not available in Queensland anymore, so book ahead if you intend to camp.
Isla Gorge National Park is one of several national parks part of the Sandstone Wilderness Parks. The parks feature sandstone cliffs and outcrops, and gorges cut through the sandstone.
