The scenic lookout in Maclean is on top of a ridge surrounding the eastern and south-eastern edges of the town, offering views across the Clarence Valley to Yamba and the ocean.
The new bridge over the Clarence River, far taller than the one it is replacing, sits distinct along the winding river through the view.

The views from the lookout are fairly wide towards the coast. There are trees that could start obscuring the views, with a few already growing into the view. It was a little hazy while we were there but you could still see where Yamba and Angourie part of Yuraygir National Park
.

The lookout has toilets and picnic tables to make it a longer visit than the views alone. There is open grass but it is on a slope so could be a challenge for ball games.
A bench seat is positioned at the parking area for prime views at the Maclean Lookout. If you want something more chill, the mosaic tile seat is close by as well.
The road up to the lookout is easy to drive up and there is a turning loop at the top to turn around. On the way up or on the way back down, be sure to stop at the rock formation called Pinnacle Rock.
