Bicentennial Park at Woody Point is on the southern end of Redcliffe Peninsula, between Pelican Park
and the Woody Point Jetty.
Bicentennial Park and Apex park next to it towards the jetty was created by reclaiming land along the Hornibrook Esplanade. The mud flats used to come to near the road, and vehicles were often sprayed with salt water driving passed. A rock sea wall was created and the land filled in to create parkland, and also protect the red cliffs along Apex Park from continued erosion.
There is ample parking for the amount of facilities there, but it is also a popular spot to walk the dog from or run, walk or bicycle from. The Moreton Bay cycle path runs along it, heading towards Woody Point Jetty to the east, or towards the Ted Smout Memorial Bridge to the west.
On one side of the parking area is a park with a playground for the kids to play, covered picnic tables, toilets, and free BBQs to cook a hot picnic lunch.

On the other side of the parking area is a parkour park, introduced to Bicentennial Park in 2016. We visited on a Monday afternoon, the boys started mucking around climbing on the various obstacles.
Someone came over to the parkour park and started stretching to do some parkour. I started talking to him and Christian was preparing to conduct beginner’s lessons for parkour. He had a few kids learning the basics and they had a really good rapport with him. Unfortunately, this no longer happens.
