Mother of Ducks Lagoon is a nature reserve at Guyra, a rare breeding place for several freshwater wetland birds. The lagoon area is quite large and will take time to explore thoroughly. When you first approach the lagoon, there is a parking spot with a parks sign ‘Mother Of Ducks Lagoon’. There is room for a few vehicles but not too many. From here you can walk over to a large undercover area with plenty of tables. The undercover area is a good 100m from the parking. There are tables in the open nearer if you want something a bit closer.
Walk passed the undercover area, there is a bridge across the creek, and you will get closer to the main part of the lagoon. A bird watching platform sits over the water where you can look for some of the birds.
Further on from the parking area is a toilet block, which also has a tap for town water. Just passed the toilet block is a free camp area for an overnight stay (one night only). The camp area is basic, but with the toilets nearby it is handy. You can walk to the shops from the camp, about 500m to where the shops start on the main street, and in the opposite direction, walk to the bowling club about 300m to a meal and cold beverages.
