Pioneer Park is on the south side of Mary River in Maryborough with four entrances to the reserve, including this one on Serenity Drive.
This location has a grass park area nestled in with bushland and shady trees, away from the main road and traffic noise.
A sign shows bicycles, horses, and motor bikes are not permitted, possibly more in reference to the walking trail that starts next to it. You can cycle on the main paths, accessing Pioneer Park from Sunrise Drive

Walking Trail
Pioneer Park on Serenity Drive is a small part of the overall Pioneer Park. A walking trail leads from the right of the park (when facing the park) down to the rest of Pioneer Park.
The trail has two alternate paths, one is wider and easier to walk, the other takes you more into the bush. The latter is more interesting but appears to be less used.
For the more interesting path, keep to the left and into the gully next to the driveway. It might be the logical way to go but if you come from the other direction, you are more easily taken onto the driveway.
From in the gully, a path forks to the left taking you on the more interesting trail. If you prefer, go to the right out of the gully leading up to walk along the side of the property.
The trail follows along the side of the hill, coming into the apex of a gully and back around the side of the next hill. The path is clear enough to follow, however, there are obstacles from lack of use such as branches over the trail.
Watch out for the spiky vines. If you are not keeping an eye out for them they can grab you. The thorns are sharp and you will know they are there once you come in contact with them.
The trail comes out onto the other trail from which you can head left to access the rest of Pioneer Park, or head right to come back to Serenity Drive.
