There isn’t too much to say about Balancing Rock. The area has many interesting rock formations, this one is set on private property and can only be seen from a distance. It is a large boulder of granite which rests on a 300mm point amongst other rocks.
It is one of the first brown signs I stopped at. I hadn’t thought of creating the brown signs website at this stage, only that I would stop at some that I had driven passed so many times without the time or bother to stop.
The original photo was with a phone camera without a descent zoom. It took me seven years before I stopped to get a better photo, and disappointingly found the brown sign had been replaced with a green one. Green! That’s worse than Blue!

The viewing point is right at the sign. There is little room to park, so care must be taken to not obstruct traffic on the highway, and watch out for fast vehicles shooting passed.
The rock is interesting, but without proper parking, and being so far from where you can stop, it is a wonder why there is a sign there at all, brown or green. It can also be seen from the Stonehenge Recreation Ground, around 750m north. It has a smaller blue sign.
