Bean Creek Falls is a high drop waterfall on Bean Creek, south of Urbanville in northern New South Wales.
The brown sign on the main road is misspelt as Beans Creek Falls with an extra ‘s’, then a short way in, a smaller brown sign spelt the correct way as Bean Creek Falls.
There is a small parking area above the falls with a walking track that leads down to them. The parking area had some trees fallen blocking most of it, however, the walking track was still accessible. Look for the sign showing where the walking track starts, as the growth made the entry difficult to find without it when we were there.
The track leads downhill most of the way towards Bean Creek and is easy to follow. It then finishes with some steep steps down to a fenced in viewing platform. The viewing platform looks across to the falls and down into the waterhole below. Just before the stairs, a steep track leads down to the creek above the falls.
The creek was not flowing, and likewise, neither were the falls. We were able to walk around above the falls, however, we don’t know if this is normally possible when the creek is flowing.
Looking from above the falls gave us a view down to the waterhole and further downstream. The creek banks and the banks of the waterhole were lush and green with palms, a contrast to the euchalypt forest surrounding it.
I found mention of a picnic area where the parking is. We didn’t notice this, but it may have been obscured by the fallen trees.
