On the western fringes of Eatons Hill on the way to Samford is the hidden gem of Edward Allison Park. Even when you are there it appears to be a nice open field until you explore a little further.
The parking area is just off Eatons Crossing Road, from which everything his hidden from. At the end of the parking area is a walkway across a dry creek. The walkway opens up into a beautiful grass area, which was beautifully lush and green when we were there.
In the field is a large boulder that sits prominently. The boulder has an inscription on one side of Edward D. Allison, the person the park is named after. The words are difficult to read with weathering but I was able to work out the following words:

Cross over the green grass field and you will come across Cedar Creek flowing on the far side. The bank is very steep near Eatons Crossing Road, but head further downstream and there is a far easier path down to the creek.
The path goes to a collapsed causeway that used to be the crossing over the creek many years back. It is now obstacles to climb over and play in the water cascading through the rubble.

The creek has a pleasant calm feeling about it, simply sitting there and taking in the natural sounds is very relaxing.
You will need to be prepared for the fact there are no facilities at Edward D. Allison Park, otherwise it is a great place to feel removed from the urban environment and be in touch with nature.
