Gordonbrook Dam is the water supply to Kingaroy, originally built as a water supply for the RAAF training base during World War II.
The dam provides a place for bird life, making it a great place for bird watching. A bird hide is a short walk from the day use area.
Walking trails leading from the day use area follow along the dam shore towards the inlet of the dam. There are plenty of places along the way with unrestricted views across the water.
Further trails are higher up in the eucalyptus bush. The walking trails are well defined and easy to follow.
The dam is small and fairly shallow, which makes it susceptible to blue-green algae blooms. Recreational use of the dam water is closed, including swimming, fishing, and boating.
When fishing is allowed, a permit is required. The dam has been stocked with Bass, Golden Perch, Silver Perch, and Saratoga.
