Island Rock is a solitary ‘sea stack’ along the Kalbarri National Park Coastal Cliffs
. It was once part of the shoreline, however, after erosion from the seas, wind and rain, the layers of sandstone rock has become separated.
Island Rock, one of many brown sign destinations to see along the coast, is near the similar Natural Bridge, except it no longer has a connecting piece to keep it part of the shoreline.
The Bigurda Trail is an 8km walk from Natural Bridge up to Eagle Gorge. There are separate parking areas for Natural Bridge and Island Rock, however, as an alternative you can walk between them for a 1.6km return walk.
