The Maroochy Wetlands Sanctuary is a place to learn about native Australian plants and wildlife. Walk on the boardwalks through the forest, spot over 200 species of birds, crabs, butterflies, reptiles, fish, and many other wildlife species in the wetlands.
The boardwalk is an easy 1km walk. Site markers listed along the boardwalk point to the sites at each location. There is a vast range of native fauna, including River Mangrove, Orange Mangrove, Swamp Oak, Native Wisteria, Flooded Gum, Paperbarked Tea-Tree and Mangrove Fern.
The Maroochy Wetlands Sanctuary is open every day and is staffed by volunteers.
There are no picnic facilities at the sanctuary, although there are some bench seats and a grass area that you could have a quick break at.
