The Millstream Chichester National Park is in Western Australia, previously two separate parks and joined as a single national park in 1982. Millstream was a pastoral land from the 1800s situated at the upper side of the Chichester Range.
Millstream was named by an explorer, FT Gregory. Gregory reported it as a good grazing area and a pastoral lease was taken up in 1865.
Les Gordon took over Millstream in 1925 and the Gordon family lived in Millstream Homestead until 1964.

The Millstream Chichester National Park has several brown sign destinations within it.
Millstream Homestead
The Millstream Homestead Visitor Information Centre 
is the home the Gordon family lived in for nearly 40 years. It is now a self-guided information centre for the national park and features information about the Yindjibarndi people of the area.
Python Pool
Python Pool is a permanent water pool at the base of falls over the cliff of the Chichester Range. The creek is dry in the dry season but there is typically water in Python Pool all year round.
Cameleers Lookout Trail is a 2.5km return class 4 walk from Python Pool. Continue on for the Chichester Range Camel Trail for 16km return to Mount Herbert.
Deep Reach Day Use Area
The Deep Reach picnic area is in the Millstream part of the national park and is a great place for a swim. It is a 200m walk to the water with BBQs near the water’s edge.
Miliyanha Campground
Miliyanha is a campground in the Millstream area with 27 campsites. It is open all year and suitable for caravans, campers, and tents. Miliyanha is closest camp site to the Millstream Homestead.
Stargazing Campground
Stargazing Campground is a seasonal location with 15 campsites open during the cooler months.
Without Brown Signs
Not all of the points of interest in Millstream Chichester National Park have their own brown signs. These are other destinations worth looking at in the national park.
Mount Herbert Summit
Walk from the carpark near Mount Herbert to the summit for a panoramic view around the Chichester Range. The track is 600m return taking about 25 minutes. The track is steep in parts with stairs part of the way. The parking area is on Roebourne-Wittenoom Rd between Python Pool and Roebourne.
Coming from the Homestead, Mount Herbert Summit is about 2.3km before reaching the Python Pool entrance.
George River Campground
For the most remote camping in the Millstream Chichester National Park, the George River campground is the most remote. It is around 11 kilometres from Roebourne-Wittenoom Rd on a rugged dirt track with rewarding scenery.
The track is rough and rocky and only suited for well-equipped four-wheel drives. Water levels can vary so great care is needed when driving to the George River Campground. It is recommended to only go there between April and September and avoid it after heavy rainfall.
Coming from the Homestead, the track is about 4km passed the Python Pool entrance. Allow plenty of travel time as the rugged track is slower than normal roads and is recommended to allow 3 hours one-way from the Homestead.
