McGavin View is a picnic and viewing area of North Pine Dam on Lake Samsonvale, just west of Petrie. It is the closest area to the dam wall, with Bullocky Rest
visible across the other side. Forgan Cove is further south, but there are no views of the dam wall from there.
The park is set up well for having a picnic lunch with the family. There are plenty of picnic tables spread around, and free BBQs to cook up a hot lunch, and the playground equipment will help keep the kids amused.

The main area has restricted hours, locked each night to vehicle access, but there is an area of the park that is accessible directly from the road and still allowing walk-in access to the main area of McGavin View.
The main toilet block has stairs to the top of it, providing a better view over the lake and dam wall. A fence along the entire dam shoreline at the park provides for plenty of viewing positions.
At the far western end of the park, at the end of the fencing, is a track that is an access point for fishing. The track doesn’t go too far, but it can be a nice walk along the edge of the lake.
