Sometimes you stumble upon a brown sign that leaves you wondering what it is there for. We came across Lady Wilson Drive on the Waterfalls Circuit. A 450-metre section of Theresa Creek Road, through a thick wooded area in otherwise cleared farming land, a corner of the Millaa Millaa Falls Park 
. There was no information or any apparent significance along the drive.
Trying to look into the purpose of the Lady Wilson Drive brown sign being there, it took a while to work out the details. The first mention I found (in relation to Millaa Millaa) was in a Cairns Post article from 1935, of the Juvenile Debutantes Ball 
in Millaa Millaa. I first thought Lady Wilson was Edna Wakely, based on this article.
I then found earlier articles of Lady Wilson visiting the Atherton Tableland region with the Governor, Sir Leslie Wilson, in 1933. They arrived by train, visiting the Theresa Cottage Hospital and after promising the children they were greeted by, visited the school.
The hospital had the maternity ward named after Lady Wilson, the Lady Wilson Maternity Ward. There are numerous things throughout Queensland named after Lady Wilson, but I have been unable to find any information on the significance of the drive.
