The Nullarbor Links Golf Course is an 18 hole course spread over 1,365 kilometres with one hole in each participating town or roadhouse along the Eyre Highway. Some holes are set up specifically for the course, others are a nominated hole at an established golf course.
Hole 16 of the Nullarbor Links Golf Course (or hole 3 in reverse) is at Kambalda Golf Club. It is a 392m Par 4 hole and is called Silver Lake in reference to Lake Lefroy situated next to Kambalda.
Lake Lefroy is about 510 square kilometres, sitting between Kambalda and Widgiemooltha. It is considered to be one of the best places to land sail due to its size and surface texture. Its flat smooth surface has been used for Australian land speed record attempts. In 2008, an English adventurer designed and built his own land yacht to attempt the world record for a wind powered vehicle but didn’t get favourable weather.
The Tee is devoted to Kevin Higgins who played a major role in the establishment of the Kambalda Football Club, Sub Junior Football Association, Volunteer Fire Brigade, Kambalda East Club, and the Bowling Club. Kevin played for the East Fremantle Western Australia Football League and selected in the Western Australian State Team in 1953, before moving to Kambalda in early 1967.
