The Wisdom Seat in Rosewood is a bench seat provided by the Rosewood Shire Council for residents to wait for their mail.
The Rosewood CWA required the Rosewood Shire Council to provide a seat in 1929. The seat was for the convenience of residents waiting outside the Post Office for the arrival of the mail. Locals would meet and share knowledge and information, later taking on the name of The Wisdom Seat.
The sign also gives tribute to the early dairy farmers of the Rosewood District. The sign sits beside a large fig tree, which were used to keep dairy rooms cool in the days before refrigeration. The large trees help keep the cream cool while they waited to be transported by train to Ipswich or Brisbane.
Dilapidated dairy buildings can often be found under fig trees planted to provide cooling shade.
