The Tablelands is a beautiful and scenic area in Far North Queensland, the waterfalls are one of the most significant drawcards. The Waterfalls Circuit is a world-famous destination with three of the well-known waterfalls to be found.
The tourist drive follows Theresa Creek Road off Palmerston Highway, around 1 kilometre east of the township of Millaa Millaa. The Waterfalls Tourist Drive Circuit follows Theresa Creek Road for around 15 kilometres passed the three waterfalls, returning to Palmerston Highway a little over 1 kilometre further on from where it starts.
Start of Tourist Drive
If heading from Millaa Millaa, continue east on Palmerston Highway for 1 kilometer. Turn left into Theresa Creek Road at the brown sign for Waterfalls Circuit. Note that the highway does not pass directly through the township of Millaa Millaa, the 1 kilometre distance is from the turnoff into the township.
If heading west from Innisfail, the start is over 50 kilometres along the Palmerston Highway. You will pass end of the Waterfalls Circuit 1.2 kilometres before the start (or the start before the end if you want to do the circuit in reverse).
Follow Theresa Creek Road for 900 metres and you will reach the Lady Wilson Drive brown sign.
Lady Wilson Drive
Lady Wilson Drive 
is a 450-metre section of Theresa Creek Road through a corner of the Millaa Millaa Falls Park. It was named after Lady Wilson, wife of Govenor Leslie Wilson, who visited Milla Millaa in 1933. There is no stop along the drive.
At the end of the drive, the entry to the first falls on the Waterfall Circuit is 200 metres on the left.
Millaa Millaa Falls
The entry is around 300 metres in to reach the parking area. For those with mobility issues, you can drive almost to the falls to drop off passengers before heading back to the parking area.
The Millaa Millaa Falls is the first and most popular of the falls on the Waterfall Circuit. Its popularity is likely due to the ease of access and the clear unobstructed view of the falls. It may be popular as it is a great swimming spot as well.
The walk from the parking area is easy and not too far with steps down the hill.
Continue on Tourist Drive
Head back out on the entry track to Theresa Creek Road and turn left to continue on. Follow Theresa Creek Road for around 7.9 kilometres to reach the parking area on the right for Zillie Falls.
Zillie Falls
The second falls are the hardest to access, although you can easy view the top of the falls without any difficulty. The trail starts across the road from the parking area, leading to the top of falls. To reach the bottom of Zillie Falls , a steep and rocky stepped bush trail takes you the rest of the way. The walk is enjoyable, through this small pocket of beautiful rainforest but may not be for those who are not steady on their feet. The walk isn’t too long, and you don’t need to be super fit to conquer it, but you may work up a puff heading back up.
Continue on Tourist Drive
From the parking area, turn right to continue on Theresa Creek Road. Follow for around 2.3 kilometres to the entry of Ellinjaa Falls on the left.
Ellinjaa Falls
The trio of waterfalls is finished with Ellinjaa Falls . The walk to the falls is along a sealed path for most of the way, leaving the path only to reach the waterhole for a swim. The path is a little steep but easy enough. Definitely easier than the walk down to the bottom of Zillie Falls. Like Millaa Millaa Falls, swimming is an option at Ellinjaa Falls. As it isn’t as accessible, it tends to be a bit quieter too.
Continue on Tourist Drive
From the parking area, turn left to continue on Theresa Creek Road. Follow to the end, around 3.4 kilometres, to finish at Palmerston Highway.
