Barramundi Discovery Centre
The visitor centre in Karumba is located with the Les Wilson Barramundi Discovery Centre. Along with the usual visitor information centre services and local knowledge, learn about the icon fish Barramundi.
The discovery centre has interactive displays and information about the history, stories, lifecycle, and habits of the Barramundi fish. It is also a hatchery of the southern gulf strain.
Guided Tours
Tours are run through the day. The 30-minute Feed-A-Barra tour has a video presentation describing the hatchery’s mission and an up-close experience with the fish including a hand-feeding of a barramundi over 1 metre long.
The longer 65-minute “Behind the Scenes” tour continues through to the hatchery where the fish spawn and fingerlings are raised.
