The Townsville Visitor Information Centre in the city is an accredited visitor centre located on Flinders Street in the city of Townsville. The tourist centre has information of the local areas and helpful tips on where to eat, stay, and play.

Parking is very limited and is more suited for pedestrian access. There is better parking on Dean Street, particularly if you have a caravan or a larger vehicle like an RV.

Townsville has an alternate visitor information centre at Elliot Springs, 10km south of Townsville Ring Road, 18km from the city visitor centre. There is more convenient parking available and more suited for larger vehicles.

Directions

The Townsville Visitor Information Centre is on Flinders Street in the city.

From Bruce Hwy heading north, take the Abbott St exit towards the city. After 4.8km you will cross over Ross River. Continue for another 2.2km and turn left into Rooney St immediately after the stadium. After 500m, turn right into Flinders St. The visitor centre is 200m ahead on the right.

From Flinders Hwy heading north, continue following all the way to the Bruce Hwy, turning left towards Townsville. Then follow the directions above from Bruce Hwy.

From Hervey Range Rd heading east, continue straight ahead towards the city. After passing the Ring Rd, continue on Hervey Range Rd, becoming Ross River Rd, for 11.6km. Continue straight ahead into Charters Towers Rd for 2.3km and turn right into Boundary St. Follow Boundary St for 1.1km and turn left into Saunders St with the brown sign for The Strand. Follow Sauders St for 800m and turn left into Rooney St immediately after the stadium. After 500m, turn right into Flinders St. The visitor centre is 200m ahead on the right.

From Bruce Hwy heading south, veer left at the Woolcock St exit towards the city (not The Ring Road). Continue on Woolcock St for around 17km to Saunders St, turning left towards the city with the brown sign for The Strand. Follow Sauders St for 800m and turn left into Rooney St immediately after the stadium. After 500m, turn right into Flinders St. The visitor centre is 200m ahead on the right.

Parking can be difficult especially for larger vehicles. For all directions above, instead of turning left into Rooney St, continue ahead and park along the parklands of Central Park (Saunders St becoming Dean St around the bend). Walk ahead to the pedestrian Victoria Bridge over Ross River. After crossing the bridge, cross the road to continue on a pedestrian mall and the visitor centre is on the right at Flinders St.
