Henrietta Creek runs through the Palmerston (Doongan) section of the Wooroonooran National Park, between Millaa Millaa and Innisfail in Tropical North Queensland. It is a grassy camping area beside the Henrietta Creek, suitable for tent, camper trailer, campervan and caravans.
Walks
From the Henrietta Creek camping ground, there are two walks you can take. The second walk continues in several sections, to Gooligans Picnic Area, Wallicher Falls, and Tchupala Falls.
Nandroya Falls Circuit Track
The Nandroya Falls Circuit Track starts from the Henrietta Creek Camping ground, crossing the creek over a metal bridge. The first 700 metres is along a common section, crossing over Boolabah Creek. A junction is reached where the circuit part of the walk begins. Heading left is the shorter 1.7km part of the circuit to Nandroya Falls, which is the direction we headed in. Heading right leads you towards Douglas Creek, downstream of the falls, then following the creek up to the falls. It is longer at around 3.5km to Nandroya Falls.
We started too late in the afternoon so we didn’t have as much daylight as we would have liked. We used the short section to the falls and to return back to the campground. Around 1 kilometre from the junction, we came across Silver Creek Falls.
With stops for photographs and admire the scenery and rainforest, it took us 1 hour and 40 minutes for a little under 5 kilometres return.
Henrietta Camping Area to Gooligans Picnic Area
From the other end of the camping area is the track leading from Henrietta Camping Area to Gooligans Picnic Area. The track is 800 metres one way. It is an easy grade 2 track but you will need to wade across Henrietta Creek, so expect to get your feet wet. The return walk is 1.6 kilometres.
From Gooligans Picnic Area, you can continue on to Wallicher Falls and Tchupala Falls. If you go all the way to Tchupala Falls and back to Henrietta Creek Camping Area, the return walk is over 8 kilometres return.
Gooligans Picnic Area to Wallicher Falls
From Gooligans Picnic Area, the track continues for 2 kilometres to Wallicher Falls.
Wallicher Falls to Tchupala Falls
From Wallicher Falls, continue 550 metres to reach the parking area for Tchupala Falls. Tchupala Falls is 700 metres further on from a junction just before the parking area.
