The eastern part of the Lakes Region is coastal, nature‑rich, and lightly developed. It blends ocean beaches, forested lake edges, quiet settlements, and protected coastal parks. Some areas are more built up, such as Metung and Paynesville, with large parts feeling more open, wild, and scenic, including the Snowy River Park.
