Nature’s Window is a rock formation creating a framed view of Murchison River below and the main drawcard to the popular Kalbarri National Park in Western Australia.
The rock formation is a short walk from the car park for it, about 1 kilometre return. The path is paved the whole way.
The canyon around Murchison River is stunning in itself. The multi-layered coloured sandstone rock cliffs around it is beautiful as well. Having the iconic Nature’s Window framing the river below with the coloured sandstone rock formation is magical.
Being a popular location, it can be a challenge to get the photos you want. There can be quite a few people waiting for their turn to have a photo taken in the ‘window’, let alone get a larger perspective shot of the rock formation.
The inland canyon locations of Kalbarri National Park requires a vehicle pass to enter. Nature’s Window is one of those that require it, so ensure you pay for your pass.
There is a longer walk available from Nature’s Window, the Loop Trail. The trail follows along the loop section of the Murchison River, essentially coming back next to itself before continuing on. The walk isn’t for us being too long and difficult to tackle, but for those who want longer walks, this one is 9 kilometres and takes about 5 hours to complete.
There is little or no shade on the walk so if you do take it on, avoid the hottest parts of the day and ensure you have suitable protection from the sun and plenty of water to take with you.
