Built in 1942, Manton Dam was Darwin’s first reliable water supply, since replaced by the Darwin River Dam.
While Manton Dam’s water is occasionally used in emergencies, today it is a popular recreation area and conservation area.
Activities include fishing, boating, water skiing, and jet-skiiing. Saltwater crocodiles are removed from the dam, however, they may enter undetected so being croc-wise is required.
